Hello Friends and Family of Emily (Mullins) Dibbens, Derek Dibbens and Baby Bodie,
It is hard and devastating news to share that after months of breast pain and treatment for what they thought was Mastitis, they finally got a breast biopsy and found out it is actually breast cancer. Emily has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, invasive ductal carcinoma. She will start chemo next week. As you know, Emily is pregnant with their first son that they prayed for, for over 6 years. When they finally found out they were pregnant last July, the knew they've experienced God's miracles; she is currently 30 weeks along. The doctors have assured them Bodie will be fine during chemo, but will most likely deliver him early (around 38 weeks).
There are a lot of unknowns right now, there is no telling how Emily will respond to chemo and if she will be able to continue working. They cannot do more body imaging until after delivery so PLEASE pray the cancer has not spread and for fast healing.
Emily is going to see a naturopathic doctor in Kansas City to help with nutrition and holistic approaches to healing her body while she goes through chemo. This is all out-of-pocket and more expenses will keep coming.
Emily will not be able to breastfeed Bodie because of the chemo and after more is known, there will be surgeries and then radiation.
There is a long road ahead. Emily and Derek are strong and will fight this! We believe in the power of prayer! So please pray, send good vibes and thoughts!
