Mel was my godmother and the long-time best friend of my mum, making this loss incredibly close and deeply personal to our family.

Her sudden passing has left her family, friends, and community completely heartbroken.

Mel was a loving partner to Joel, a devoted and hands-on mum to her beautiful boys Jed and Bray, and a cherished friend to so many.

As the owner of Mel’s Hair and Beauty, she created more than a business, she created connection, care, and community. Her clients were like family, and she was loved by all who knew her.

Joel is now facing the unimaginable — grieving the sudden loss of his life partner while having to support and raise their two young boys on his own. The road ahead is overwhelming, and no one should have to walk it alone.
