Help Megan Get Surgery

Megan Burrus, my best friend who lives in Texas, has been diagnosed with 12 tumors on her thyroid. When I began 10th grade, my mother ran away and left me. I happened to meet Megan that same day. Most people asked, "How could your mother do that?" Megan asked, "How can I help you, baby?" 

Megan and I are survivors, and I'd like to help her face this hardship NOT ALONE. Megan helps people at the drop of a dime. So I'm calling on my community to help my lifelong friend.

Megan has already had half her thyroid removed but tumors have returned. Her doctors give her 6 months to remove these tumors, and she has no health insurance (her profession providing food service to a small daycare does not typically provide insurance benefits). This surgery is life-saving for Megan.

Megan's family piled me into their car and took me on their family vacation to the Outer Banks the summer my mother ran off. This trip stopped me from running away and disappearing. My car was packed. It took me 3 years to trust humans enough to unpack that car.

We both adore the ocean. When I broke my shoulder on her birthday, Megan put a deposit down on my first cruise to Yucatan and Cozumel in April 2020, as an incentive for healing and to reassure me everything would be okay; pain is temporary. 

These funds will help Megan save her life from the tumors on her thyroid.  Any funds beyond surgery can go toward medication and health insurance for her. No contribution is too small--every penny helps Megan get this surgery in time.
