On Christmas Eve, our family experienced an unimaginable loss when my mom and stepdads home was destroyed by a fire. In a single moment, 25 years of memories— and the place they called home—were gone.
Christmas was especially close to my moms heart. She poured love and pride into her holiday decorations each year, creating a display that brought joy to so many. Just days before the fire, on Monday, December 22nd, Bob Kelly from FOX 29 visited her home to interview her and film a walkthrough of her beloved Christmas display—a testament to how much care and happiness she put into making the season special for others.
As the fire spread, my stepdad and several neighbors acted quickly and selflessly, attempting to put out the flames before firefighters arrived. In doing so, my stepdad suffered burns to his hand, head, face and ears. We are incredibly grateful for his bravery and for the neighbors who stepped in during such a terrifying moment.
This tragedy was made even more heartbreaking by the loss of one of their precious cats, Lulu, who sadly perished in the fire. Their other cat, Bella, survived thanks to the bravery of a firefighter who rescued her from a window.
We are raising funds to help cover immediate expenses during this incredibly difficult time, including temporary housing, clothing, and essential personal care needs. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden as they begin the long process of rebuilding and healing.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
