HELP International Nepal
Donation protected
Hello everyone! As some of you know, I am trying to participate in a program this fall. This program is something that I’m not only super passionate about but it would also be positively impacting the lives of others. HELP international is a nonprofit organization that works with impoverished communities around the world. One of these locations is Nepal, which is where I would be working. Nepal has been going through a spectrum of issues, and in the past HELP international has aided by implementating a wide range of educational programs, earthquake disaster relief, and much more.
If I went, I would be staying at the Raksha shelter which is an organization that is based in Nepal that provides care and support for sexually exploited girls, women, and their children. Their goal is to protect women from sexual violence and trafficking by enhancing their knowledge, awareness, and socio-economic status, as well as providing them with a safe place for healing and moving forward in life. This is something that I am extremely passionate about and one of the main reasons I am hoping to participate in this program. Most of my time would be spent at the shelter with about 60 girls that have been rescued while also still focusing on other outreach projects. Earthquake disaster relief as well as other projects would be assessed by the community’s needs upon arrival which would be carried out by working collaboratively with the local community as well as local NGOs.
Doing this program would also fulfill my senior capstone which entails that while I’m abroad I would also be maintaining an interactive blog with a middle school classroom back in the U.S. that keeps them updated on what I am doing in Nepal and allows the students to ask questions.
I would be ecstatic and extremely grateful to be able to participate in this challenging yet powerful experience. If you are able to donate, any amount would make a difference and would mean the world to me! This money goes to the program fee that goes directly to the community and supports the projects we would be working on. And if you can’t donate, that’s also fine, thank you for just taking the time to read this message! I appreciate you and please share this if you feel called to :)
