Medical/Travel/Room and Board Expenses

My great niece, Kierstyn Brooke, was born on May 6, 2014 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She had open heart surgery on May 8, 2014, at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN. She has been in Pediatric Critical Intensive Care Unit ever since. Before her birth, her doctors thought that she would be in PCICU one week and then another three weeks in the hospital. She has had several setbacks which has resulted in her continued stay in PCICU. Her mother and dad, Charae and Harvey Smith, at this point, do not know when she will be coming home. Due to the prayers of many people and God's loving care, she continues to fight and show small improvements daily. When she eventually gets to come home, she will have weekly doctor visits with her cardiologist for at least 5 months and will face 2 more surgeries.

At this time, her mother, Charae, has taken a leave of absence from her job to remain by Kierstyn's side. Her father, Harvey, has to drive approximately 200 miles per day to get to his job and back to the hospital. Then he must travel back home each night to be with their 15 year old son.

There is a great need at this time for financial help for medical, travel and miscellaneous expenses. Any help that anyone can give this family will be greatly appreciated.
