This past weekend, on July 18th, “Thad” was attacked by two thugs while sleeping in his car on a native american reservation. These men broke a car window, hit his head, slit his throat, stomped on his face repeatedly, slit his throat again and left him for dead in the desert. He bravely played dead until the attackers drove off with his car, and then wrapped his jacket around his neck to stop the bleeding. He walked miles barefoot through the desert like this until he found help and was then rushed to the hospital. 

He will have incredibly high medical bills due to needing to be flown to a better hospital, rushed into surgery, hooked to an incubator, and spending days in the ICU. He also lost many possessions in the carjacking which he may not be able to recover. The recovery process for him may also be expensive as he will need various forms of therapy including trauma counseling and speech therapy.
