I'm Mason. Last week, my service dog Whisper started vomiting and wasn't interested in food. We took her to the vet the same day. They didn't see anything on x-rays and sent us home, but we took her back the next day because something just wasn't right.
They redid x-rays and found a foreign body at the end of her intestines, and she needed to have surgery to get it removed, which was done the same day. She isn't a dog who eats random things, and even after seeing the item, we have no idea what it is.
Unfortunately, she didn't recover well and has been hospitalized for three days. First, they were suspicious of sepsis, then they were concerned about the fact that there was no movement in her GI. Her proteins dropped, and she couldn't hold food down.
Whisper has had a dozen rounds of bloodwork, ultrasounds, numerous medications, IVs, you name it. Yesterday, she was transferred to a specialty hospital.
Fortunately, she is finally improving. Unfortunately, I'm on disability and currently not being paid, and trying to make ends meet without an income. My wife and I were working on eliminating previous veterinary and healthcare debt when I could no longer work. If two thousand people gave just four dollars, we could get rid of Whisper's veterinary debt and refocus on paying our regular bills.
Thank you so much for reading.
