Memorial Fund, in memory of Kevin McManus
Donation protected
The goal of this fundraiser is to honor and remember our friend, Kevin McManus, and to raise funds in his name in support of his beloved widow, Norma Sanchez. She is dealing with pain and loss that is unimaginable. Proceeds will be placed in a trust account administered by Life Law Partners, LLP, for the benefit of Norma.
Please share this message and donate what you can to help with funeral expenses and time away from work so she can heal.
Last week, the unimaginable happened; we lost Kevin McManus, beloved husband to Norma, a shining beacon and leader in our community, and friend to so many.
Anyone who knew him won’t be surprised that he died helping someone else. Watching the ocean from their beach-front home, he heard a neighbor yell for help and then the cries of a woman flailing in the sea. He ran out of the house, shouting to Norma to call 911 and bring down the life vests.
And then he just dove in.
He swam toward the woman and realized she was caught in a powerful riptide. He shouted instructions to her on how to swim across the riptide rather than against it.
She followed Kevin’s instructions and made it back to shore alive.
Kevin didn’t make it.
Kevin dedicated his life to helping people and improving the environment. He was a fitness trainer, personal coach, physical therapist, and just all-around warm-and-fuzzy guy. If you met him, you liked him. Period.
Kevin and Norma put their hearts and souls into making La Misión Beach Fitness a great place to be. On weekends, he and Norma spent their time cleaning up the beach with their crew. Kevin also introduced an Organic Market to the community. I could always count on him to put aside my weekly fix of arugula and broccolini.
Kevin touched the lives of so many people here in La Misión; he was truly beloved, and he died a hero. His love for and dedication to Norma was something powerful to behold.
The very least we can do is give her our support now.
