Secret Santa 2020

Dear Friend and Neighbors

This year like no other year has been one of the most challenging of my last 33 years as a Healthcare Administrator.

Since the pandemic started we took steps to immediately protect the residents by testing all staff and residents in March 2020 and we began to restrict all visitors to the campus and isolated residents on campus.

As the Christmas Season rushes upon us this year I wanted to write you and ask for your help.  The isolation of the “lock down” has taken a toll on many of our residents and we know that reconnecting with others is a vital part of creating a sense of connectedness with the community.

The greatest gift of Christmas is the gift of the Christ child.  The gift of the giver is what makes the Christmas Season so powerful as it opens the opportunity to share love, compassion and kindness with others.

This year is the 31st  year for the SECRET SANTA PROGRAM.  The Program is very simple.  All you need to do is call [phone redacted] and ask to speak with Ashley Turner or e-mail them at [email redacted] and let them know you want to be a Secret Santa for 2020.

You will be given a name and list of items they have requested.  We ask that you have the item you select wrapped and back to the facility no later than December 23rd.  We will have a Christmas Party on December 25th at 2pm where these gifts will be shared.

I am grateful for your past support and help with this important program.  The risk of suicide among adults with Schizophrenia is 25% will attempt to end their lives during the course of illness and 10% will be successful.  For many the holidays is often a stressful time filled with negative memories of past Christmas experiences spent in hospitals, jails or isolation.

The power of a simple gift can transform the lens through which a person sees the world around them.  Where they believe that no one cares and there is no love or kindness, a simple gift erases that idea that the compassion of Christ ceases to exist.

I believe that the joy of Christmas truly lies in the gift we make in the lives around us.  I know you will receive a blessing for your generous help this year and I pray that God’s grace and mercy will follow you and your family all through the coming year.

Kindest Regards
