Hello! We are the Gant family. My husband is Julius, I am Jessica, my oldest son is Amaad (18), and our youngest daughter is Jaselle (3). Our nephew (27) resides with us as well. We have exhausted MANY avenues to avoid creating this request. This is the most I have ever spoken publicly about our circumstances but, we are trying not to lose our home and resort to living in a hotel once again. We are extremely thankful that things are not worse than they are currently, and would be even more grateful if you are able to donate something to help our family. My mother and sister have supported us a lot but, they can't help us with everything.
Last year, our landlord was in a financial bind and had to evict us from his property. He gave us advance notice but, he did not relieve us of any financial obligations so we were unable to adequately save and prepare for a move. We ended up being temporarily homeless staying in a hotel for about 3 weeks. During this time, the funds we were hoping to save ended up being used on hotel rooms and food.
My husband is a former football player with the Arena Football League. He is currently coaching at a local high school in DeKalb County, GA. He was working as a packer/mover for a local moving company but due to COVID-19, he was unable to maintain that position. He is staying home with Jaselle in the meantime until we are able to catch up on our financial obligations to her daycare center.
I am currently employed as a Financial Aid Director at a local trade school in the area. My hours and income have decreased tremendously since the pandemic.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we have not been able to recover from over-extending ourselves financially during the time that we were homeless and we lost our car. I use Uber daily to get to and from work which is an added burden. Also, because I am working, every bit of government assistance that should be afforded to our family is not being offered. At the very least, I thought we could get assistance with food but, my most recent application was denied. We have officially reached the end of our rope financially. There's no one to ask who hasn't already given us something to help us get by. I've taken advances from work and that avenue is no longer available.
I do not know the words to say to make this post stand out from the countless others here but, I pray that if we are the family that God wants you to give to, that your donation is returned to you one hundred fold and that you receive unmerited favor and increase!
