On July 30, 2021, while out on a local walk, my 16 yo son’s emotional support companion, Zuko, managed to slip out of his harness (which turned out to be defectively made), took off and went missing. Last night, community members of our little town spotted Zuko running up and down their street. Many neighbors collectively tried their best to capture her and keep her away from the main street but we’re unsuccessful. She managed to get pass all of them and was then hit by an oncoming car. A very kind couple scooped her up and rushed her to the hospital that other neighbors recommended and notified my son from the dog tag. We are in need of emergency funds for additional scans, tests and surgical procedures. Her current injuries include her lungs and fractured front jaw. They suspect a fracture to her back jaw, the TM, also and some bleeding to her brain but will require additional brain scan to confirm both, more blood work and a surgical consult for everything. The hospital isn’t able to proceed with anything until we are able to come up with the funds. My son is in complete distress as Zuko has been a vital part of helping him through his depression. He’s been crying and begging me to find a way to save his Zuko. Due to COVID restrictions, they don’t allow him to see Zuko or to help comfort her. If you are able to help in any way, even with prayers, we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You,
Mitella and Gunnar
