Hi, I’m Jesse and I had top surgery a week ago! It has been life changing.

 

 

 

Luckily I got the surgery in Canada so it was covered by health insurance I was staying at home with my parents before to save money since I needed to stop working for the surgery, and it was hard to come back to Vancouver and find a an affordable place to live.

 

I was looking for a place with a friend but it’s incredibly difficult to find affordable housing in Vancouver, and the 2-bedroom we did find fell through only a week before my surgery. I didn’t want to risk living with strangers during recovery so I took the safe but expensive last resort of a $1,300 studio apartment, way out of my budget

 

I’m only staying there for 2-3 months and will hopefully be able to do some remote work throughout that time but a bit of external support will help me with this monumental time in my life. I feel so grateful for being able to get to this point and wouldn’t trade it for anything but dang life is expensive even with Canadian health care.
