Hi my name is Jackie and i have been caring for Sabrina since she was a young kitten. Sabrina was found in a garden soaking wet with injuries to her eyes. Sabrina was seen by a vet and referred to a specialist in veterinary ophthalmology. She had suffered a severe trauma to the head which had caused the injuries to both eyes. Her left eye had to be removed. She has been having regular check ups on her right eye and drops twice a day as she has posterior lens luxation. The drops make her pupil small to hold the lens in the back of her eye so she didnt have to lose her remaining eye.
Fast forward to today and the lens has now moved to in front of the eye. I did fundraising previously to raise the funds for lens couching (maneouvring the lens back into place under sedation) this was a success but unfortunately as the lens has moved to the front of the eye she has to undergo eye couching again in the hopes that we can save the lens. This poor baby has been through so much already, but this procedure could save what little sight she has. If this procedure doesnt work we would have to have the lens removed. Both of these procedures are costly and would have to be paid for before the procedure is undertaken.
I’m now desperately trying to raise the funds for eye couching before too much damage is done to her remaining sight due to the lens being out of place.
We dont have the funds for the eye couching (which is her easiest and least invasive option) which is estimated at £1200. Hopefully this procedure is successful as the cost of lens removal is a whopping £5500.
Thats where this fundraiser comes in. The eye couching needs to be done as soon as possible in order to save this gentle little souls remaining sight. Any donation would be gratefully received in order to help Sabrina.
