Pushing Higher by 1st Learning and Leading
Mission: To provide programs, resources, and scholarship opportunities to single mothers.
Purpose: To help single mothers recognize their potential to attain excellence while being a single mother.
Vision: To encourage college attendance and completion to single mothers.

We are honoring and remembering a hero, Patrick Hill. A Detroit Police officer who was injured in the line of duty and passed on 10-19-2013 after succumbing to his injuries. Through my grief and dealing with losing my husband physically, I felt obligated to give back to the community that raised him, he protected, and ultimately he gave his life for.
When I met Patrick at The University of Michigan I was in my junior year of studies. I was a single mother of a 2 year old. Patrick and I became good friends and he provided a great amount of support to me as I worked toward obtaining my undergraduate degree. Through his support and the support of various organizations around campus, I was able to obtain my degree in 4 years.
There are many trials and tribulations I was faced with as a single mother college student. Time management, managing money, paying bills, childcare, studying, providing housing, providing food, and the list goes on. It has been placed on my heart to start this organization in Patrick’s name to honor and remember him while creating a legacy that helps to provide support to women that need some motivation and inspiration to reach higher despite set backs.
The first fundraiser I put on, was the 1st Annual 5k on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016. This was the month Patrick was injured. A difficult time for all those close to him. My goal is to make it a month of remembering him and doing something fun to raise money for the organization in his name, PH1LL.
I am asking for your help to make this happen. Stay tuned for the next opportunity to be a part of it!
