The Debra Romero Smith College Scholarship started in 2017 just prior to my mom's passing. This scholarship is given out every year to a young, underrepresented minority woman who displays talent, but may not have the resources to pay for college on her own. It was a similar scholarship that allowed my mom to attend Smith College coming from Northern New Mexico. She always wanted to give back to Smith College for opening such opportunities.

This scholarship meant the world to her and continues to support woman coming from similar backgrounds as hers. The goal is to spread the word about her amazing story and to establish a yearly tradition to raise money for her scholarship.
