While snowboarding in Steamboat Springs Colorado I had an accident that has since changed my "walk" of life. A torn ACL, MCL, and fractured tibial plateau brought me home to Morristown so that my family could help me recover after routine ACL surgery. Unfortunately what was supposed to be an easy procedure turned into something far worse. Compartment syndrome, a rare and painful condition caused by increased swelling or internal bleeding brought me back to the hospital for emergency fasciotomy surgery. Since then I've undergone four other surgeries, five in total. The team of doctors working on my case have been able to save my leg but with limitations. Walking will become a challenge again and I may never receive full sensation in my injured foot. My three week stay at Morristown Medical has been just the start of my "long road" as I struggle to cope with the overwhelming loss of my muscle, feeling and motion of my leg.
