A Long Recovery

Story

Hi, this is my niece Ryan and her long-term partner Kyle. Ryan was the victim in a serious car accident on Wednesday afternoon when a driver pulled out in front of her, clipping and sending her car into a parked dump truck. She was crushed and pinned inside the car requiring the jaws of life to get her out (article link below). We are so grateful she is alive! Her injuries required eight hours of surgery Wednesday night and more surgery may be required. She has a broken femur, broken knee, broken wrist and arm and ribs as well as several serious lacerations that were stitched. (Ryan was happy to learn and report yesterday that her tats all survived intact - lol). Drs say she will be unable to weight bare on the injured leg for a minimum of three months and recovery will be complicated by the arm injuries (makes independence in a wheelchair and crutches unlikely for many weeks maybe months). They believe right now that her time in hospital could be quite long as a result. Ryan and Kyle relocated to Sault Ste Marie for their successful post secondary studies a few years ago and have remained living in that area - we are proud of them! However, it means that their parents, step-parents, siblings and extended families all live 8+ hours away. And Kyle works in the Timmins area, more than five hours away. We are starting this GoFundMe to support them and their families with the expenses that will be incurred during this extended recovery. Please give what you can, every little bit will help over the next several months of long distance travel, support, and hospital recovery. Thank you all so much ❤️❤️❤️ ~Amber (Ryan’s Aunt) https://www.sootoday.com/opp-beat/crash-closes-highway-17-in-heyden-10921016
