Ojalá...

My name is Sofía Ontiveros. I am a Mexican, Toronto-based dance artist/choreographer. I am working on creating my new piece, Ojalá... , which will be presented this September 30th, 2022, at The Citadel: Ross Centre for Dance's annual event, Night Shift.

I am seeking financial aid for this creation; any money you can donate will directly go to the artists involved.

About my piece Ojalá... :

My new work, Ojalá… (meaning Hopefully...), seeks to explore, through a duet, the aftermath of interpersonal betrayal. When one who loves you deeply hurts you deeply, two contradicting truths begin to coexist: love and lack thereof. The betrayal acts as a catalyst, unveiling new truths, which begin to question your prior reality. Can both old and new realities live simultaneously and hold the same weight? How does the body react after living and merging two juxtaposing experiences into one? Will the lesson outweigh the pain? Ojalá… will explore how two bodies connect, stumble upon betrayal, and search for healing.
