We’re raising funds to save Diesel, a gentle and loving Lurcher who has suffered more than any dog ever should — but who, by some miracle, has found his way back to safety.
Diesel originally belonged to Ethan, who rehomed him several months ago due to unforeseen housing circumstances. It was a difficult but responsible decision, made with Diesel’s best interests at heart. Unfortunately, it became clear that the person who took Diesel in did not care for him as promised.
Diesel was recently found abandoned outdoors, believed to have been left for weeks, in a heartbreaking condition — severely neglected, starving, dehydrated, and injured.
But — by sheer luck, the person who took him in never updated the microchip, which still listed Ethan’s details. That one small oversight became Diesel’s lifeline. When scanned at the vets, the chip led him back to us.
We have tried to contact the person who rehomed him, but they cannot be reached by phone or any other means. With no one else stepping up, we knew Diesel’s only real chance was to come home to us, where he would be safe and properly cared for.
Diesel’s condition is severe:
• He is almost completely hairless, malnourished, and weak
• He has injuries to his front legs, likely from prolonged exposure and trying to survive alone
• A stick had become lodged in his throat, causing infection, maggots, and a hole through the roof of his mouth into his nasal cavity
• He is now undergoing emergency surgery, fluids, and antibiotics, and will need 8–12 weeks of rehabilitation before he is well enough to return home
The total cost of his treatment and recovery is expected to be over £4,000. We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t cover this alone.
Diesel didn’t deserve to be left like this. He deserves a second chance — and we’re ready to give him one. If you can help in any way, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, it would mean the world to us and to Diesel.
Thank you so much for your support and kindness.
A Note from Ethan
Diesel has always been such a sweet, gentle dog who just wanted love and attention. Rehoming him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but at the time it felt like the best option to make sure he was cared for.
Seeing the condition he was found in has completely broken me. I never imagined he would be abandoned and left to suffer like that. I feel incredibly lucky that the microchip was never updated — it meant he found his way back to me, and I can finally do right by him.
I now live with my partner in a stable, loving home where Diesel will be properly cared for. He’s still only around a year old — just a baby — and he deserves the chance to grow up safe, healthy, and surrounded by love. We’re fully committed to giving him that.
I’m doing everything I can to give Diesel the recovery and future he deserves. If you’re able to help in any way — by donating or even just sharing — we would be so, so grateful. Any additional profits will be donated to charities helping stray dogs.
With love and thanks,
