Support Chris's Recovery

My name is Neena Rouhani and I have set up this fund with the permission of the Salmeron family, for their 17-year-old son Chris.

 

On March 2, Chris was shot while riding his bike through his neighborhood in Santa Ana. In the days that followed, Chris was on a breathing machine, unconscious, and could only communicate through the squeeze of a hand. The bullet ripped through his intestines, bladder, and hip, and remained lodged inside him. He’s undergone three surgeries so far to remove it, and by the grace of God, Chris is now in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. Even so, he has a long road ahead, including physical therapy to help him walk again.

 

Chris is raised by an extremely loving single mother, Monica, but making ends meet has been insurmountably difficult despite working full time. Chris’ heartbreaking situation, along with a severe injury that is keeping Monica in the hospital as well, has put their family over the edge.

 

I met Chris when he was 11 years old and spent a lot of time with him as a junior youth mentor. He has grown into an incredibly sweet, bright high school senior with hopes to join the military. He is a brother to three adoring siblings, Valerie (10), Madeline (15) and Anthony (23). Monica is doing absolutely everything in her power to support and protect her kids, and is working towards moving them to a safer neighborhood—far away from the violence that almost took Chris’ life.

 

Every penny raised will go towards covering Chris’ medical expenses. Any money raised beyond that will support the family’s basic needs as they recover from this tragedy. The Salmeron family has expressed immense gratitude for every dollar, share, well-wish and prayer for Chris!

Su madre, Mónica, es madre soltera y llegar a fin de mes ha sido extremadamente difícil. La desgarradora situación de Chris, junto con una lesión grave que también mantiene a Mónica en el hospital, ha puesto a su familia al límite.


Conocí a Chris cuando tenía 11 años y pasé mucho tiempo con él como mentor juvenil.
