Money for Homeless from Arson Fire
A mentally ill gentleman set his own apartment on fire on 5th street in San Jose on Saturday night. Although the fire and police were called, they were unable to stop the severe damage to the 10 unit apartment building so the gas and water main lines were destroyed in the fire. As a result, all of the tenants in the building have been displaced. Several of those tenants have young children and two of the tenants only speak Spanish and do not have any relationships in San Jose to depend upon for help. Here is the link to the news story done about the fire: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/6-Families-Homeless-After-Suspected-Arson-at-San-Jose-Apartment-Complex-318049561.html. We're wanting to raise $1,000 per family to help them recover.
The Red Cross has put up all of the tenants in a hotel but can only afford to do that for one more night (tonight.) As of tomorrow, these people and their children have very little resources to help themselves.
Here's the facebook site if you want to see that: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1637497313130178/?fref=nf
