F CANCER!!

You know those people who always bring goodness and kindness and sunshine to others? My friend Shanie Mason is one of those people and now she needs some extra kindness thrown her way. On June 10th she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Shanie is one of the healthiest people I know, so this was a complete shock, but she has taken it in stride and with grace. She has had colon surgery, numerous tests, scans and procedures and is currently receiving treatment. She has been fortunate to have been accepted into a research study that will strengthen her immune system's ability to help fight the cancer, along with chemotherapy, but even with the study and health insurance she has significant out-of-pocket expenses already and she has a long road ahead of her.
Shanie still gets up every day and motivates everyone around her. She exercises, goes to work and is a single mom raising two amazing boys. She continues to lift up others and stays optimistic. She has been sharing her journey with the rest of us in the most authentic and vulnerable way and teaching us all about the power of mindfulness and resiliency. I don't want you to just take my word for it. Here is what some other people have to say about her:
"My mom is the best ever. She is kind, patient, very sincere and she takes care of everyone around her."
"Shanie is smart, funny, hardworking, thoughtful, resilient and positive."
"Shanie is the biggest inspiration in my life. She faces every and any challenge with grace and diligence. I've never met someone who lives so deeply out of love instead of fear. If you are friends with Shanie you are blessed beyond belief."
" Shanie is one of the most thoughtful and caring people there is. Also, she's hilarious and has rad hair! I consider myself quite fortunate to have her as a friend."
Shanie has a long road ahead of her. She still has to have liver surgery later this year and her chemotherapy is expected to go into 2020. She is the first person to offer support to others and now she needs our support! Please consider donating. Any amount helps. Shanie often says..."Surround yourself with people that feel like sunshine," and "No one gets through life alone." Let's show Shanie that she is not alone.
One of my favorite things about Shanie is her compassion for others. Let's demonstrate the compassion she puts out into the world everyday. Please share this post.
