Muke Village, Zambia
Donation protected
Hi everyone!!
For about 11 days, my family and I traveled to South Africa and Zambia and had the incredible opportunity to experience a culture and way of life so different from that of the United States. While in Zambia for a few days, I was able to visit Muke Village and learn from locals and villagers themselves about the constant needs and dreams of the children and women.
To give you an idea, there are around 70 little preschoolers with 2 teachers in one small building. They have no toilets, so the children need to go into the bush filled with snakes and thorns to use the bathroom during the school day. Also, because of the lack of space and teachers, each child is only able to attend school for a couple hours a day. This limits their educational experience and ability to reach their potential as they grow into young adults.
As for the women, this is still a culture that is characterized by arranged marriages, polygamy, wife-beating, and, if a women fails to produce children for her husband, she is sold back to her family. Needless to say, there is a long way to go and a huge opportunity to have a positive impact on their lives and futures.
With the money you donate, I will purchase school supplies and materials like wool and fabrics to teach the women how to knit and become more self-sufficient. Your donations will also contribute to the cost of more buildings and much needed toilets at the community preschool.
Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated. A little goes a long way!
Please share this with friends and family!
THANK YOU!!!
