My name is Daniel Whitehead. I’m writing this fundraising letter in petition of support for my family following the devastating wildfires in Maui that caused death, destruction, and displacement for so many.

Very much of West Maui Lahina Town now has become ash, only leaving a few structures remaining within the surrounding devastation. My parents ( Steve and JoAnn Shipe) home was destroyed and my sister and her husband have been displaced as their home is unsafe to return to amidst the destruction and fire ruin.

All members of my family are safe and healthy. My parents only have their car and the clothes on their back they escaped in. They are completely devastated from this sudden displacement and loss of everything. We are seeking support to help get them through this tragic loss.

Maui has been a part of our lives for over 10 years, enjoying the history here and culture of the islands. Lahaina holds a particular vibration of “ coming together in unity.” The essential ways of life are shared in a manner of attraction and peaceful meeting grounds. It is for these reasons that I feel in need of such support of our community.

The donated funds will be directed to my parents, my sister and her husband, and their neighbors in Lahaina. The funds will be directly linked to support my family and other victims of the Maui Fires. Please know that any contribution will help as we come together in these times to heal the people and land of Maui! Thank You for your support
