Help Ami- wash the feet of India

Donation protected

Ten years ago as I was struggling with suicidal thoughts and was attempting to navigate my college experience I came to a fork in the road where I had to ask myself- Who am I going to live for? Man- whose expectations I will never be able to fulfill, whose standards I cannot fit into or God- who loves me the way I am and continues to be a faithful Father to me- a broken and sinful child?

I chose God because in His eyes we (His children) are equal. Sometimes I ask my dad- "who do you love the most out of your three children?" He wisely responds, "Look at my hand- no finger is the same, but no matter which finger I cut each will bleed the same blood and each will hurt." No matter the differences between me and my siblings my dad loves each of us no more or no less than the other.

Now I am asking a different question- "What's the point?" What is the point of having this understanding that God loves me and accepts me despite my flaws or generational history if I don’t share that message with others?

This is where I need your help and would like you to partner with me. In January 2016, I (along with 15 of my students) will be traveling to Delhi, India to wash the feet of people who belong to the "untouchable" caste of India. This caste consists of 52% of India's population and has been told for generations that they are not worthy. The caste system itself removes the possibility of freedom to choose.

My desire is to serve the people of India and fight against the caste system that has been put in place for the past 1,900 years through ordinary radical acts such as sitting down for a meal with anyone regardless of the caste they are in, washing their feet despite the lies they have been told for generations that they are not worthy.

My hope is that we are able to shift perspectives and point the people of India to a God that does not judge based on the caste system but loves all His children by grace through faith.

Please prayerfully join me on this journey by supporting me through financial giving. Any amount will help send me and my team of students to serve the people of India.

-Sincerely yours!
Ami
