In 2009, at the beginning of the financial meltdown, we embarked on a mission to save 20 acres of a 2nd growth forest that is situated behind our home. It had never been cut, but had experienced a fire over 100 years ago. We were backed by an 'eco-friendly' bank and numerous investors made up of family and friends. All of us wanted to save the trees and establish a sustainable forestry business . We were a pilot project for small scale family forests and relied on carbon credits and a market for the wood that was harvested. That part of the project failed and we were forced to sell or clear cut the forest in less than 2 years. BUT, we did save the trees! Some wonderful people were able to buy the forest with the intent to keep the forest intact. We were named managers, of sort, to help in the maintenance of the forest. 
We were left with the debt to our investors. Since Feburary of 2011, we have been able to pay a sizeable portion of the debt back, had some forgiven and still owe much more than the amount we are asking for in this campaign.  But we need help.  And that is hard for us to admit. So as I take a deep breath, here goes!
Our home has been in jeopardy since the project began with most of our energy being directed either to fulfilling the dream or waking from the nightmare.  Time passes and we aren't getting younger and we feel we can not hold this situation any more. Therefore, we are reaching out to any that can help us fulfil our obligations to our friends and family that we still owe money to. 
The animals and winged ones of the forest, the trees and undergrowth have been saved. Our investors are in need as much as we are and we cannot do it alone.
Together we can change the world, but we must ask for help when needed. Thank you for any consideration in this plea.
