A Zen Den for Phoenix

Hello family and friends-

On January 4, 2023, my beloved child tried to end their life. Phoenix, the oldest of 5 kids, has always been a light in our family. Phoenix is intelligent and kind. They were getting straight A’s in an advanced school program, recently started a job at the ice rink, and yet, felt overwhelmed by depression and anxiety. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to give them the help I didn’t realize they needed. They’re currently in an inpatient facility in Portland while they stabilize and prep to return home.

This event has highlighted the need for Phoenix to have a space of their own so they can de-escalate and de stress when needed. Phoenix requested this when identifying ways they can cope with everyday life. Since our house is at capacity, I want to add a shed in the back yard that Phoenix can use to have quiet alone time. We will make the space cozy and beautiful- a place for reading, art, relaxing. The biggest obstacle to making this space for Phoenix is the cost of the materials. I’m asking for help to purchase a shed kit, materials for a little paver base to put it on, and furnish the inside. The funding will somewhat determine the size, but somewhere around 6’x8’ would suffice. Any extra funds will go toward the medical costs for hospital ER treatment and inpatient program.

The whole family is still recovering from this experience, and it will be a long road. Thank you for considering this request. <3
