Hi, my name is Lotty, and I am fundraising to attend the 25th world Scout Jamboree being held in South Korea in 2023. As a member of Colliers Calverton Explorers, I will be representing UK scouting. Young people from every corner of the world will be attending, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of different cultures and learn new skills. I also look forward to being an ambassador for Scouts, my Town, County, Country and School.
UK Chief Scout Bear Grylls supports us in the theme of the event. It is "think big, dream wild, act together". The focus is especially on how we can be trailblazers in creating a sustainable world together.

“Lotty Dix is hoping to earn her stripes in Korea”
Lotty Dix has been selected to represent her Town, County and Country as well as the Scout Movement, at the largest Scout Jamboree to be held in South Korea in August 2023. She is a member of Colliers Explorers, Calverton.
• The 2023 Korean Jamboree will be largest Scout camp to be held since the start of the Covid Pandemic
• 50,000 young people from almost every nation on earth will take part
• Young people from every corner of the UK will participate
Lotty from Southwell, Nottinghamshire is one of 3,240 young people that have been selected from the UK to join 50,000 young people taking part in the World Scout Jamboree. The Jamboree is a skill, cultural and adventure festival, happening in sensational and scenic South Korea. In the summer of 2023 Lotty will be meeting thousands of Scouts from nearly every country in the world and sharing her skills, culture and experiences. This will be the first time that so many young people from so many different nations will be gathering together since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The World Scout Jamboree offers young people the chance to learn new skills that they can use in other aspects of their life as well as to campaign for change on key world issues that matter to them. Lotty has been selected because she passed the rigorous selection process, proving she is a responsible young person, capable of working in a team environment, sharing her knowledge, listening to others and is enthusiastic when facing new challenges. Lotty has great skills she can share with others, we are confident Lotty will be a great ambassador for her School, the Scouts and her town, County and Country.
The World Scout Jamboree will be the culmination of 18 months’ work for the young people and their volunteer leaders, who together are called the UK Contingent.
Young people from the UK Contingent have adopted a logo featuring a Siberian tiger, the national animal of Korea. They have named the tiger ‘Chingu’, a word that means friend in Korean.
Between now and July 2023 Lotty will attend training camps and team building events, preparing them for living on the hot and humid site in SaeManGeum, Korea.
The Korean hosts of the Jamboree have challenged participants to “Draw your Dream” and as part of her Jamboree journey, Lotty will have the opportunity to discover new cultures and take part in activities focusing on the environment, skills development and global issues.
Lotty said:
“I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to attend the World Jamboree 2023, I look forward to rising to the challenge of traveling to a different Country, with likeminded young people, as a UK ambassador. This will be a life changing experience”.
UK Chief Scout Bear Grylls, said:
‘Congratulations to all those who have been selected to go on this amazing adventure! World Scout Jamborees only happen every four years and tens of thousands of Scouts from across the world attend each one. Young people will experience different cultures, languages and cuisine while learning new skills. After two very difficult years, it is so important that these young people have this opportunity. ‘The 2023 Jamboree, hosted by Korea, is set to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet. The theme is “Think big. Dream wild. Act together.” – focusing especially on how we can be trailblazers in creating a sustainable world together.’

About Scouts
• Scouts, the world’s largest youth movement, was founded on 1 August 1907.
• In the UK, Scouts is supported by The Scout Association, enabling 7,000 Scout Groups across the country to provide opportunities to over 475,000 young people aged 6-25.
• There are now more than 638,000 individuals actively involved in Scouts in the UK.
• All genders, races and backgrounds are welcome at Scouts. Every week, it gives almost half a million people aged 4-25 the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.
• Scouts helps members gain these skills by encouraging them to ask the big questions and listen with wide open minds. It helps them to take a deep breath and speak up, think on their feet, ignore the butterflies and go for it. With Scouts, young people don’t give up – they get back up and try again, often with the support of the friends they’ve made there.
• Over 200 activities are offered by Scouts around the UK, from canoeing and caving to coding and community projects, made possible by the efforts of over 163,000 adult volunteers.
• Worldwide, Scouts has over 50 million members, both male and female, and operates in nearly every country in the world.
• UK Scouts has over 250 Scout Activity Challenge badges. These require participants to achieve a level of understanding and skill realistic and appropriate to their age range.
