One seizure changed everything. Aislynn, my strong and determined daughter, went from preparing for a national bodybuilding competition to facing a rare brain condition that threatens her life and her future.
Hi, my name is Erin, and I’m fundraising for my daughter Aislynn.
Aislynn is just 28 years old — a vibrant young mom, a loving wife, and a passionate athlete who once stood proudly on the bodybuilding stage. She trained for months, preparing to compete on a national level. But in an instant, everything changed.
Earlier this year, Aislynn suffered a massive seizure. The cause was a rare and dangerous brain condition called an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) — a tangled cluster of blood vessels in her brain that puts her at constant risk of stroke or another seizure. Aislynns AVM is larger than average measuring about the size of a thumb, and deep in her right temporal lobe, one of the largest areas of the brain and also an extremely eloquent location. Overnight, she went from lifting heavy weights to struggling just to get through the day without fear.
Why we need your help:
Although we are fortunate to live in Canada where her medical treatments and hospital visits are covered, Aislynn’s life has been turned upside down. She cannot work, and her husband is now the only source of income for their little family. While his parents have lovingly stepped in to support them however they can, the reality is that there are still many expenses we can’t manage alone:
• Medications for seizure management.
• Transportation to downtown Toronto for ongoing appointments and treatments.
• Basic living expenses while Aislynn focuses on her health and recovery.
Aislynn is a devoted mom to a young son, and every day she pushes through her symptoms to be present for him. But I see the toll this battle is taking on her — physically, emotionally, and financially.
Your support will mean:
• Aislynn can focus on healing instead of worrying about bills.
• Reliable transportation to life-saving appointments.
• Stability for her family during this difficult time.
At this time Aislynn is waiting for a cerebral angiogram booked for this coming mid August that will extensively map out the mass in her brain so they can decide a final treatment plan in hopes of curing this disease. Treatment could include embolization, open craniotomy and gamma knife radio surgery, and recovery will get harder before it gets better.
Aislynn has always been a fighter, but she needs her community behind her now more than ever. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing her story, you are helping give her the gift of time, strength, and hope.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story and supporting my daughter. Every day truly is a gift — and your kindness means the world to us.
