This is my son, Zackary. He is an amazing, hardworking young man. He is an AP student at Clinton High School in Clinton, MS, where he is a junior. He is heavily involved in the marching band, plays the trumpet, and co-leads the equipment crew. He is also a Cadet Chief Master Sergeant in the Madison, MS Cadet Squadron of Civil Air Patrol, where he is currently a Flight Commander and was formerly the Squadron First Sergeant. All this while taking AP classes, maintaining his grades, and being active in our church.
Zackary’s dream is to study aerospace engineering and attend the Air Force Academy to be a pilot in the Air Force and become a fourth-generation Air Force man. Both my father, my mother, my wife’s father, my mother’s father, and two of Zack’s uncles all served in the Air Force. Zack is hoping to be the first officer and pilot in the family.
Yesterday, we received an acceptance letter and invitation for Zack to attend the Aviation Academy program by Envision at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs this summer. It is a great program and would definitely help him further his goal. Unfortunately, I am disabled, and we lost his mother 5 years ago to complications due to kidney failure. He has gotten a part-time job today to help save for the costs and applied for a partial scholarship to the program, but the costs are substantial. I am hoping he can get some help to get him to this amazing opportunity. He is a hardworking, service-oriented young man, chasing a dream of serving his country doing something he loves, flying a plane.
