*Update: Unfortunately, the April court date was postponed until May 17, 2023. We were told that the DA was selected for jury duty, and there was no one else to stand in for the preliminary hearing. Destiny is praying and staying focused for her release. We are standing with Destiny, praying, crying, but never losing sight of getting her back home! Thank you to everyone who has shared the post, donated, prayed, as well as showing up to court. Please, please, please, keep us in prayer, keep sharing, and donate if you can! We appreciate you, and we need you!

"I'm living my worst nightmare! For six years, I fought my hardest to free my baby, but one of my biggest fears came true. I thought my daughter was dead, and when I found out what happened, I knew it was either him or her."

Destiny's Mom
In February of 2023, our family literally changed forever. My niece, Destiny, is being charged with the homicide of her boyfriend. For the past six years, her mother, family, and friends have tried to get her away from her abuser. We have had interventions, prayed for her, cried with her, and nursed her black eyes and bruised body, but she kept going back. Many of us don’t understand domestic abuse, but we all knew that if my niece did not get out soon, it would end badly.
Unfortunately, we are living our worst nightmare. My beautiful niece is in jail, but she is not a monster! She made a choice to fight for her life, and now she is in a jail cell. She is mourning the loss of her lover and abuser, and it’s taking a toll on her physically and mentally. She wishes there could have been another way, but at that moment, after a long weekend of yet another round of abuse, she thought her life would end! Destiny knows taking her abuser’s life caused pain, she just saw no other way.
Please let me tell you who my niece is. Destiny went to school for culinary arts, and she is a passionate cook who loves cooking for her family. She was employed and had her own home, which she kept spotless. She is a fur mommy, and her two dogs miss her greatly. Destiny is shy but has a smile that could light up any room. She has a kind spirit and is loved by her family and friends.
Before this incident, she had no criminal record. She went to work, spent time with her family when she could, and cared for her dogs.
I’m sharing this campaign in hopes that my niece will not have to suffer any more than she has. We respect the loss of life and wish things would have been different. We fought so hard to get Destiny away from the abuse, but we could not. Our agonizing reality is that our loved one took the life of a man she loved because she thought he would kill her. Our loved one, who was scared for her life, did this to save her life, and we are asking for your help. We need financial assistance for her legal defense. Any amount you can donate is appreciated and know that no amount is too small. We appreciate your support, and I ask that you keep my niece and her mom in prayers as we fight for her freedom.
Thank you,
