In July of 2021 my nerve sheath tumor began to affect my ability to fully use my left hand, arm and shoulder. After consulting with my Neurosurgeon here in Savannah, we decided I should see the team at Emory University in Atlanta. We scheduled a surgery for February 25. The tumor removal was tricky because of the location in my spine and the Brachial Plexus in the back, so they approached it from the front. The Surgeon described the approach once inside and having a blind spot committed to the removal which put a small hole in my spinal column that released some fluid. He repaired it and I was on my way. I posted this photo not realizing how awful I felt
About an hour later I was on my way back to Emory with a spinal fluid leak. They did another surgery and 9 days later I was out.
But the real reason we are here is because I wasn’t drawing my full pay up until the surgery and I do not have an income and will not for about 8 weeks. The funds I generate will go toward rent, utilities, dog walking and the trips I will need to make back and forth to Atlanta.
