Open Water Swim 2026 Crocodile Crossing - Pedro Rangel Haro

Hi my name is Marianne Alvarez, I am the founder and Director of a Charity in Mexico that helps people with a disability through sports. As an ex swimmer and a coach, I have coached para swimmers to Paralimpic Games and open water challenges. In 2014, we became the first ever Paralympic relay to swim across the English Channel. In 2016, we had two relays - one of them was the fastest crossing of the season (including abled body) - and in 2018, I coached the first ever solo crossing of a para athlete, Pedro Rangel Haro, whose dream became a reality. Pedro is a Mexican 5 time Paralympic medalist swimmer who lost both of his legs in an accident when he was only 8 years old and battled between life and death. He had the dream of conquering the Mount Everest of Open Water, the English Channel.

Let's make history!

THE GO FUND ME Fundraiser will be specifically used to cover the expenses of our next solo crossing that has never been done before. The "Crocodile swim" is 32 km and will take over 15 hours to swim. As this is an extreme sport and an open water race that has never been done, we are taking extremely cautious measures ensuring the safety of all the crew and our swimmer. With this achievement we will conclude the documentary film of Pedro Rangel Haros's life focusing on his swimming achievements and fatherhood. The documentary will be entered in film festivals.
His determination and passion for inclusion has inspired so many and exemplifies the strength of what it means to be human.

We believe that swimming gives people with disabilities the "feeling of freedom" and wellbeing. Today, we are a registered charity in Mexico that promotes swimming. We are building a high performance training center in Quintana Roo. The center will offer accessible pools amongst the 7 hectares of land we own. Our goal is to start construction this year. Once the center is running, we will be able to give back to the community of people with a disability. Our projected revenue will go towards programs that help people with disabilities live in a world that has far too many inaccessible spaces. Because an accessible world is a right and not a privilege.

Thank you for your help, we greatly appreciate your time and donations.
