Hi my name is Jackie, I am doing this fundraiser for a wonderful man called Alan Joy who sadly passed away on Mother’s Day after a a nine year battle with cancer, this is truly heartbreaking to family, friends and army colleagues.

Alan was an amazing family man who absolutely adored his wife children and grandbabies, his world revolved around them. He was a proud soldier who served his country with the Royal Pioneer Corps for twenty two years. He would step up and do bus run to and from army mess do’s, ran the bar on the estate with his wife and dressed up as Santa for the army kids Christmas party.

When Alan left the army he continued to do things in Hereford organising bingo and taking meals to the homeless amongst other activities to many to mention, all the time while undergoing treatment for his cancer. He never let his illness hold him back he fought bravely, always being the strong man his family knew and loved. He is and always will be their hero.

Myself found Alan a funny quick witted sarcastic fella never a dull moment when he was around, as a family man he was devoted, as a friend and neighbour he would do absolutely anything to help.

I am asking for support because I would love the family to give

Alan the day he deserves and to help with a memorial plaque or bench where they can go and sit and visit with the grandbabies who he loved dearly.

Alan you will always be in my family hearts we will remember you with love and affection. We are forever at the side of Sue.
