A Wife and A Mothers Goodbye

Just imagine that someone has come and taken the love of your life, the mother of your children and told you that you’d never again get to see her beautiful blue eyes, get to feel her warm touch or even hear her speak your name. Now try imagine losing your mother in your last year of high school or in the very beginning of your high school years, coming home after a hard day, maybe you struggled in that English exam or maybe you’d been picked on that day but coming home and not having those warm motherly arms wrapped around you, you know the ones that take all the worry away with no words being said. Well unfortunately this is the reality for my Uncle Dean and my Cousins Josh, Jayden and Jack. My Aunty Rebecka 45 years young was diagnosed with lung cancer in late June 2017. After a heap of medical treatments, scans and doctor’s appointments, we were all hoping for the best outcome. Rebecka was starting to feel herself again even venturing out to attend my nephew and niece’s christening, things were looking up for her and the family. In March 2018 Rebecka and our entire family were informed that the cancer had spread, it had gone to her brain. Rebecka… Our dear Rebecka now had brain cancer. She was told for any chance of survival she needed brain surgery. This operation was life threating itself however Rebecca being the fighter, strong willed independent woman she is, didn’t hesitate and the surgery was booked in for two weeks later. It’s fair to say that Rebecka was determined to beat cancer and be here to grow old with Dean and watch her baby boys grow into men. The whole family held faith that she’d wake from surgery and be able to kick cancers butt. To all our relief she woke up remembering what her name is, what day it was and with full body function. Once again things seemed to be taking a turn in our favor. The surgeons were happy with the outcome of the operation. Rebecka started a new drug right after the brain surgery, she had one dose administered and was sent home to recover. Just shy of having to have her second dose she was rushed hospital as she was in excruciating pain, while there the doctors ran some test and scans. Rebecka was alone when she was told that the cancer was now in her spine, left leg, back in her lungs and brain. Its aggressive and there isn’t anything that anyone can do to save her. Imagine being told you only have weeks to live and you can’t even do anything because your body is so exhausted. We want to give Rebecka the best last days, weeks of her life and nothing beats family right. Unfortunately, Dean has used up all his entitlements from work during the treatment period and we as a family have tried our best to make things easier for them but now we need your help. Please help us to allow Dean to stay home and care for his wife in her time of need, let them say as many goodbyes and have as many last kisses as they need.
