Hello! We are the Eggink family - Lorri, Sadie, Westin, Lucy, and Stephen Land.

I (Lorri) grew up in Gardendale and this community, and now I am back raising my kiddos here. Lucy was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome when she was 2 years old, which is a disease that limits her ability to walk, talk, or have any functional hand usage. She needs total care, and she is the sweetest angel you'll ever meet! Rett also is regressive, so a lot of what she gains she loses through the years.

We have had a long journey thus far. We moved back from Northern California to be closer to my family after the kids' dad had been sick for several years and tragically passed away. All three kids developed a seizure disorder within a year's time, which is a lot to say the least, with many unknowns and doctor appointments. In that timeframe, Lucy has lost most of her independent mobility and uses her wheelchair daily. Hence the need for a handicap vehicle! It is very wearing on my back to lift her in the van and also load her wheelchair up in the back. Unfortunately, there is not much help in funding for these expensive vehicles, and they run double what a normal vehicle costs for the conversion.
