Our Much Needed Emergency

My name is Austin, I am twenty-three years old.

I drove here from Louisiana, to live with my Mother to get a fresh start and that was what I needed. 1300 miles of not stopping to get where I am now, here in Pennsylvania. I settled in and my mother and I had our issues, we don’t see eye to eye sometimes and that’s okay. I do as much as I can because she is my mother.

My mother took me out for drinks to catch up and have a good time on July 7th. She introduced me to some family I haven’t seen in forever, and we talked for a bit. As the night played out we were going to go home, I had left early and I forgot to mention I was going to walk home. She hadn't noticed that I left the bar, I'm not even sure what happened. I didn't sleep well for the past three nights, I also didn't drink that much I had maybe eight shots.

All I can remember is me trying to open the car door to get in and it was locked. Instead of going back inside to ask my mother or speak to her I tried walking home. I understand that we were both at fault here, she wasn't paying attention that I had left. I should have walked back inside but I didn't.

I woke up in the hospital on July 8th, in a hospital bed in an ER. They stabilized me in Indiana county and sent me on to Conemaugh Medical Center. I wasn't sure what was going on, I felt nothing at all and wasn't sure why I was there. The doctors put me into and MRI and even scanned my head, as well as an EKG.  At this point I still didn't know what was going on.

I was finally in an ICU room and I had completely regained conciousness at this point. Finally realizing that I was extremely hurt. I woke up to my family, they sat there and didn't say much. We tried talking but I was on too many pain killers. After they had left the doctor had told me he was surprised I had even made it through.

I was diagnosed with a concussion, and complex lacerations on the right, left, and upper eyelids that require stitches. As well as complex lacerations on my forehead and nose. I also had lacerations on both knees, as a nasal fracture. A small portion of my left hip was fractured as well. In my left knee I had some tendon tears. As well as some minor ones on my right knee.

All of the above, I tried my best to translate and write it from the packet the hospital gave me.

I was in a lot of pain after the operations, and the concussion had took its toll on me. I could barely sleep right, constant headaches, and even deep nightmares each and every night. I still suffer from this even now.

I found out after two days of being in the hospital, wondering who did this to me. As I write this the police are still investigating.

What we know for sure is that there were two vehicles that hit me. My mother and an unknown driver.

The police also don't exactly know yet but, here is what my family and I believe:

I walked on the shoulder of the highway and most likely passed out from exhaustion, I didn't exactly have alot to drink that night. I believe though that the unknown driver hit me first, in the legs. The second was my mother getting into her vehicle drunk, and she hit me in the face.

I described everything to the best of my knowledge and capability, I'll have some more pictures down below.

What I am in desperate need of is, money for my bills, that consists of my vehicle, phone, and the typical housing ones.

I myself had to apply for medical assisstance with the state just to be able to pay the hospital bills. My mother has no room to help me pay my bills, and neither does anybody else I know right now.

Thank you so much to anybody who takes the time to read this and to anybody who donates.

This is the photo of my leg wound.
