Total amount of $17,975 adjusted after calculating funds received, including the other avenues used to gain support.

The $23,000 budget reflects a lean production model rather than the project's full financial need. Of that amount, approximately $9,500 represents the minimum funding necessary to complete post-production if I personally perform the majority of the editing, story assembly, narrative refinement, and project management while reducing or deferring essential travel and other production expenses. This approach substantially lowers the project's cash requirements but does not reflect its true cost.

To date, I have already contributed an estimated $30,000–$40,000 in donated creative labor to Episode 1 through directing, producing, cinematography, editing, research, fundraising, project management, and community engagement. This significant in-kind investment demonstrates my commitment to the project while ensuring that grant funds are directed toward critical production needs rather than overhead.

Additional funding beyond the minimum budget would allow A Water Trail to complete professional color grading, sound mixing, finishing, travel for remaining interviews and community engagement, accessibility deliverables, and distribution preparation at the quality the story deserves.

Every grant dollar invested in A Water Trail is amplified by substantial in-kind labor, allowing limited funding to achieve the impact of a significantly larger production budget.

We are raising funds to create the second episode of A Water Trail; a raw, emotional, and urgent docu-series that speaks truth to power by exposing the deep roots of water injustice in marginalized communities. This will be Episode 2 of a 7-part series that follows real lives impacted by environmental neglect, while lifting up the power of resistance, memory, and community.

The first episode of A Water Trail uncovered the intertwined crises of environmental racism, political negligence, and collective resilience. Your support made that possible. Now, we need your help to continue the journey.

This next episode dives deeper into the lived realities of those forced to navigate survival in the face of systems that were never designed to protect them. It follows a woman who escapes Flint’s contaminated water crisis, only to face a new catastrophe in Puerto Rico: Hurricane Maria. In the aftermath, she loses contact with her youngest child—a moment that becomes a breaking point and a catalyst for transformation. From that pain grows purpose. From that rupture emerges The Sister Tour, a collective born of women, resilience, and the urgent need to reclaim community power.

Join the Movement - A Water Trail is not just a film—it’s a tool for organizing, reflection, and repair.

By supporting this project, you are helping to fund independent storytelling that confronts systemic injustice, uplifts women of color, and builds new pathways toward water justice and community healing.
