Hello family and friends ,
We humbly come to share the story of a warrior who will be in dire need to help cover medical costs for an upcoming spine surgery.
On September 6th while driving to her job my mother Sonia suffered from an unexpected loss of vision while on the road. In fear of what was occurring she called my father to pick her up and take her to an emergency room , after 2 weeks of severe head pressure a neurologist was able to confirm she was suffering from A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak that occurs when there's a tear or hole in the dura mater, the outermost layer of the meninges that surround the brain and spinal cord. After a long week of being hospitalized, with no further answers she was referred to the Methodist in downtown Houston where a second neurologist was able to confirm the CF leak in L1 lumbar on her spine. She will need spine surgery and after 21 years of being with TISD they will be asking her to resign after her 12 week FMLA is terminated leaving her not only with no income but with no insurance to continue to cover her surgery or recovery. During this time our family will be preparing to take on the task of saving for any unforeseen events that are to come, she will need surgery and also physical therapy for her eyesight. If you know my mother you know the determination she has to pull through ANYTHING life gives her , my father has been by her side and being her prime caretaker along side myself so he had to take time off work and will continue until her surgery is completed and that can be anywhere from 1-3months if not more. I humbly ask if you are able to any contribution no matter the size it would bring a great deal of help to our family. If you aren’t able to donate simply sharing this would also be tremendous help.
