A WARRIOR FIGHTS CANCER - ALL ABOUT BOB JOHNSON
Who is Bob?
He is a man, a son, a husband, a Marine, the father of 5 amazing kids, and the papa of 14 incredible grandchildren. He would do anything within his power to help a friend and has done so much for so many, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Honestly, he drives my Mom crazy sometimes with his generosity, but deep down I know she wouldn’t have it any other way. He is her husband: this funny, most-of-the-time lovable, gentle, rock of a man, Hoosier, and love of her life for all eternity… and he is my Dad.

He has been surprised and physically knocked down temporarily several times during his lifetime; and always has rebounded with vigor. This time is different. Last May, he had incredible pain in his lower back. And after many tests, Doctors confirmed the diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma. He is now in the fight OF his life, FOR his life. Unknown to him until recently, his Multiple Myeloma is a known cause from his exposure to contaminants while serving as a US Marine at Camp Lejeune, decades ago. We now know we are not alone in this fight. My Dad, this Marine to the core, remains the patriot, but is now fighting for his own life and his own freedom, along with many other veterans.
My Mom and Dad choose to believe that, through faith and all of the research that they have done and continue to do - to what feels like overwhelming, that he is a warrior and he will win this fight.
Treatments Begin...
So much of how Cancer is treated is known, and so much is unknown. The way that my parents grew up would dictate that they follow a path given by traditional western medicine. Which way is the right way? They have learned over the last five years: things like how to live a more healthy lifestyle, removing toxins in every aspect of their lives. And, yet, with trepidation and hope, they made the decision to do what they have been taught to do; to begin this adventure with traditional western medical treatments: biopsies, blood draws, pet scans, ultrasounds, several types of chemotherapy and all that that entails; along with experiencing all the extraordinary side effects and symptoms. The purpose of this treatment was to reduce the cancer as much as possible; followed by a stem cell transplant. Never before have I seen the debilitating after effects of all of this chemical intrusion first hand. We know millions of people are going through cancer, withering from chemo and living the tortuous lifestyle that they have been experiencing. Is there really a better way, that isn’t poison, to fight this thing?!
After 6 months of treatments; changing from one chemo to another in the effort to manage the pain while attempting to rid his body of Cancer; when the chemo pauses, the pain subsides and the Cancer grows. Their mode is… research, decide, pray, listen, and go. It is all so frightening and overwhelming, yet they try not to allow fear to dictate their actions.
This last protocol was even tougher on his body! He began this journey a happy, healthy, strong, “working his fanny off”, perfectly fine 63 year old. I have watched him decline rapidly with the chemo, aging him drastically. By this time, he required an electric cart instead of walking much. He suffered constantly with severe fatigue, difficulty sleeping, muscle aches in shoulders, along with the never ending Neuropathy in his feet and calves; decreased appetite, yet constant nausea; frequently light headed or dizzy and constant shortness of breath; frequent headaches and would fall asleep unexpectedly during working hours of the day. Though their lives are a complete focus on this disease and how to fight it, day by day; in the face of all that they have experienced, they have remained strong and positive.
Is there another way?
There is no reset button; they cannot go back; they never know for certain which path to take. They just have to make decisions like everyone else out there who are either too scared to move away from traditional medicine or just don’t know. All of their research and prayer has led them to believe that there is a different path to take. The new year brought a new decision and now after a month of NO chemical drugs and a drastic change in diet, my Dad is feeling better. He is certain that more chemo is not the route he wants to continue to pursue. Many people will think they are simply crazy…. going out on a limb and believing that this is the answer. They are letting go of fear and sharing their story as it unfolds, bringing you with them to blaze a different trail.
They believe that God has given them this extraordinary opportunity to heal my Dad.
Let’s Help
As they begin to blaze a different trail, it’s time now for more aggressive alternative treatment; to put into play all the research they have done, but these very same treatments will be very costly. It was at this point that they realized that they would need help from their community in order to accomplish what they have set out to do. Bob has been accepted to a clinic out of the US that has experienced incredible successes with Biological medicine for many years and their team of doctors are confident that the treatment will be successful, for him. Among the treatments he will be receiving are biological anti-inflammatory therapies, neural therapies, orthomolecular restorative therapies, whole-body hyperthermia, holistic dentistry, intensive detoxification and more. It is known, that the sooner he receives this treatment, the milder a re-occurrence and the greater his survival chances are. The clinic relies on integration of biomedical specialists and open-minded oncologists, with modern research and therapies that are applied individually. Here the dream of most oncological centers of getting oncologists and biomedical specialists working together, has already been realized.
There are many expenses and unknowns that come with this treatment, and the financial burden is imminent, adding to the already stressful financial circumstances. They are scrambling to raise enough funds for the first month long scheduled treatment to begin April 27, 2020. They have tapped all of their personal resources and have made many changes in their lifestyle to accommodate, to fight his disease, and now we humbly ask for your help.
If you are unable to donate, you can still show your love and support by including Bob and his family in your thoughts and prayers and share this “go fund me” as your heart dictates. Any form of help is greatly appreciated.
Please check back for updates about his progress! Thank you so much for your generosity and concern. Do you know anyone else, a loved one who is struggling with cancer, who is having these same questions; wondering if there is a better way, suffering from the chemo and wishing there were other answers? ......Join us, learn with us and share with us in this journey !
