A Warrior Fighting for his Life Against Cancer!

Queremos agradecer a todos ustedes que de alguna manera han acompañado a la familia Galvis desde el inicio de este diagnóstico. 

El 15 de mayo 2020 lo que se pensaba que sería un procedimiento de rutina con una colonoscopia, mi cuñado Reinel David Galvis fue diagnosticado con cáncer colorrectal, no solo esto, si no que ya la enfermedad estaba en etapa 4, esta terrible enfermedad se habia extendido a hígado y pulmones creando una metástasis.  La noche del Lunes 1ro de Febrero del 2022, sufrió un raro episodio de movimientos faciales involuntarios, que nunca había tenido, el día Martes este episodio se volvió a repetir y fue llevado de emergencia al hospital.  Después de la valoración medica, los doctores determinaron que las convulsiones que presentó fueron causadas por 3 tumores cancerígenos que se encontraron en su cerebro, haciendo que ya 4 órganos fueran afectados por esta enfermedad y el más delicado el Cerebro. 

Cualquiera que conoce a Reinel David sabe que es un hombre excepcional y admirable. Su pasión por servir a Dios le ha llevado a impactar muchas vidas con la predicación del evangelio y el servicio a los demás en diferentes partes del mundo. ¡Definitivamente es un guerrero de Dios! 

Las siguientes semanas serán claves para su tratamiento y a pesar de que la incertidumbre a veces toma por sorpresa, nosotros escogemos la fe como protagonista. ¡No hay mejor herramienta en estos momentos que creerle a Dios! Sabemos que el plan de Dios es perfecto y creemos que el Señor cumplirá su propósito y no los desampara en el proceso. 

A pesar de que el seguro de salud ha cubierto un porcentaje, los gastos de su tratamiento son demasiado elevados y sus entradas financieras se han reducido considerablemente ya que mi hermana debe estar  100%  al cuidado de David durante todo este proceso, y ahora mas durante la recuperación de las 2 cirugías que tuvo (ileostomía y reversión de la misma) ella ahora más que nunca debe darle sus cuidados ya que los riesgos de convulsiones esta presente a diario, de igual manera las citas al doctor son semanales, impidiendole trabajar, y esto les ha afectado bastante. 

A los doctores les urge empezar radiación lo antes posible y se suponía que debian empezar este lunes que pasó, pero el seguro hasta ahora sólo ha aprobado una sola radiación, de las 5 que son necesarias para poder eliminar los tumores de su cerebro, luego seguira otra serie de sesiones de quimioterapia más fuertes (Ya lleva más de 20) que se espera remueva o reduzca el cáncer en el cerebro, pulmón e hígado que han aumentado empeorando su cuadro clinico.  Como pueden ver, es bastante la carga en estos momentos y ellos lo que menos deben tener es más estrés por las cuentas que deben pagar, 

Ellos no habían querido recurrir a la ayuda de todos ustedes pues pensaron que todo estaba bajo control y podían manejarlo, pero al reducirse sus entradas esto ya no es posible. Al haber estado yo al lado de ellos la semana pasada y ver la situación me pude dar cuenta del estrés por el que están pasando el cual es mayor del que me pude imaginar pues  ellos no son de los que hablan así estén en necesidad, por lo cual les pedí su autorización y ellos estuvieron de acuerdo en permitirme apelar a su ayuda, actuar en fe y tocar los corazones de ustedes nuestros hermanos y amigos. Estamos seguros que con su ayuda económica lograran cubrir muchos de estos compromisos hospitalarios y cuidados diarios.  Ellos agradecen cada oración, cada mensaje, llamadas, visitas y detalles que han tenido; eso significa mucho para ellos!

Les comparto un mensaje que David posteo recientemente en una de sus paginas a pesar de su condición y eso nos llena de fe y esperanza; 

"Vamos con toda en el Nombre de Jesús.  Nosotros no somos de los que retrocedemos. De eso se trata este hermoso Camino: de aprender a confiar, esperar y vivir en Él. Nunca limites tu pasión hacia Dios por lo que suceda o deje de suceder, ama a Dios por lo que Él es y no solo por lo que hace. La vida siempre te pondrá obstáculos, tarde o temprano te vas a encontrar con situaciones que nunca llegaste a imaginar vivir.  Es allí donde debes desarrollar una Fe sólida la cual solamente proviene de parte de Él a medida que le conoces más en relación personal". 

¡Lo que David expresó, muchos lo hemos aprendido o recordado en este proceso; ¡por duro que sea, nuestra confianza siempre está en el Señor Jesucristo quien nunca nos desampara!

We want to thank all of you who have been with the Galvis family since the beginning of Reinel David's cancer diagnosis.

On May 15, 2020, what was thought to be a routine procedure with a colonoscopy, my brother-in-law Reinel David Galvis was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, not only this, but the disease was already in stage 4, this terrible disease had spread to the liver and lungs creating a metastasis. On the night of Monday, February 1, 2022, he suffered a rare episode of involuntary facial movements, which he had never had, on Tuesday this episode repeated itself and he was taken to the hospital to the emergency room. After the medical evaluation, the doctors determined that the seizures he presented were caused by 3 cancerous tumors that were found in his brain.  This terrible disease has affected  4 organs and the most delicate was the Brain.

Anyone who knows Reinel David knows that he is an exceptional and admirable man. His passion to serve God has led him to impact many lives with the preaching of the gospel and service to others in different parts of the world. He is definitely a warrior of God!

The following weeks will be key to his treatment and despite the fact that uncertainty sometimes takes us by surprise, we choose faith as the protagonist. There is no better tool right now than believing God! We know that God's plan is perfect and we believe that the Lord will fulfill his purpose and will not forsake the Galvis family in the process.

Despite the fact that the health insurance has covered a percentage, the expenses of his treatment are too high and their financial income has been considerably reduced since my sister has to be 100% in David's care due to his recovery from the 2 surgeries that he underwent recently and now more than ever she must take care of him since the risk of seizures is present daily, plus the appointments to the doctor are weekly, this has affected them a lot.

We understand that after almost two years of fighting against this disease, medical expenses and others have accumulated, not counting those that are yet to come, after two recent surgeries (ileostomy and reversal of it) and extensive study sessions in the hospital he had to go through a week ago to find the most recent diagnosis.

The doctors urgently need to start radiation and it was supposed to happen this Monday, but the insurance so far has only approved one session of radiation and 5 radiations are necessary according to the doctors to be able to eliminate the tumors in his brain, after that another series of stronger chemotherapy sessions will follow (It has already been more than 20) that is expected to remove or reduce cancer in his brain, lung, and liver that has also been found and that increased worsening his clinical picture. As you can see, there is a lot of burdens right now and what they should have the least at this time is more stress because of the bills they have to pay.

They had not wanted to resort to the help of all of you because they thought that everything was under control and they could handle it and the least they want is to be a burden to anyone, but with their income reduced this is not possible. I was by their side last week and seeing the situation and the stress they are going through in-person made me insist on creating this page and ask for help because they are not one to talk even if they are in need, I asked for their authorization, they agreed to act in faith and touch the hearts of our brothers and friends and appeal to your help, which will be extremely helpful and valuable.  We are sure that with your financial help they will be able to cover many of these hospital commitments and daily care that David needs. They appreciate every prayer, every message, call, and visit; that means a lot to them!

I want to share with you a message that David recently posted on one of his pages despite his condition and that fills us with faith and hope;

"Let's go with everything in the Name of Jesus. We are not one of those who back down. That is what this beautiful Path is about: learning to trust, hope, and live in Him. Never limit your passion towards God because of what happens or stops happening."  Love God for who He is and not just for what He does. Life will always put you obstacles, sooner or later you will find yourself with situations that you never imagined living in. It is there where you must develop a solid Faith which only comes from Him as you get to know Him more in a personal relationship".

What David expressed, many of us have learned or remembered in this process; As hard as it may be, our trust is always in the Lord Jesus Christ who never forsakes us!
