A Voice for Jameson: $5K Legal Retainer Fund

Hi, I’m Jessica. I’m a single mom to a smart, energetic, and loving 5-year-old boy named Jameson. I’ve been raising him on my own since day one—through every doctor’s appointment, bedtime routine, school drop-off, and scraped knee. He’s my whole world.

This fundraiser is to help cover the $5,000 retainer for an attorney who can represent us in a custody case that has gone far beyond a simple legal matter. It has become a fight for safety, stability, and protection—for both myself and my son.

For years, I’ve endured emotional abuse behind closed doors. Jameson’s father has used intimidation, manipulation, and verbal threats to try to control me—never co-parenting in good faith, but treating every interaction as a battleground. Despite his limited involvement in Jameson’s life, he continues to weaponize the court system to harass and destabilize us.

And now, it’s escalated.

Recently, he began filing court documents filled with anti-government rhetoric, denials of paternity, and sovereign citizen ideology—claims that defy both legal reality and common sense. These filings are disruptive, time-consuming, and dangerous. And I’m forced to respond to each one—without legal help—draining my already limited resources as a single mom.

Worse, I’ve received death threats, endured harassment, and have even had to be escorted out of the courthouse by a marshal due to his behavior. These are not isolated incidents. They’re part of a long-standing pattern that shows how quickly emotional abuse can escalate into something more serious.

One of the hardest parts of this journey has been realizing that, in court, being right isn't enough. As a self-represented (pro se) parent, I’m often brushed off, interrupted, or outright dismissed—no matter how much documentation I bring or how well I prepare. Judges are overwhelmed, and without legal counsel, my voice gets lost in the shuffle. That’s why I need an attorney—not just to speak for me, but to make sure we’re actually heard.

I’m not asking for help out of anger or revenge. I’m asking because I want peace—for me, and most importantly, for Jameson.

This legal fight is about protecting our future. It’s about standing up to a pattern of abuse that has now spilled into the courtroom. And it’s about making sure my son has the safe, stable life he deserves.

Funds raised will go directly toward the $5,000 attorney retainer to secure a family law attorney who can challenge these disruptive filings, help enforce existing court orders, and advocate for what’s truly in Jameson’s best interest.
