A Voice for Emma Grace

In July of 2017 Emma Grace was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder characterized by a period of typical development followed by a period of rapid regression affecting the child’s ability to speak, walk, use their hands, eat, and even breathe. Simply put, Emma Grace’s brain has an extremely hard time controlling her body. 

Emma Grace currently receives physical, speech, occupational, and aquatic therapy. She works so hard and has learned to walk independently. However she is nonverbal and has limited control of her hands. Because of this, it is extremely hard for her to communicate her wants and needs.  In order for her to continue to develop and learn to communicate with others, she needs a speech generating device with  Eyegaze. This is a computer that follows the movement of her eyes and actually generates spoken words based on the pictures that she looks at on screen. Our insurance will not cover this device and it costs over $15,000. 

Emma Grace is an amazing, beautiful gift from God. She is full of joy and has the most wonderful belly laugh you have ever heard.  She loves music and being around people. We want to do everything we can to help her live life to the fullest. We believe this speech generating device will help her do that. If you are able to help, we would be eternally grateful.
