Hi, my name is Mike. I have worked in the field of homelessness for over 17 years. I've met all kinds of people in this field, mostly our most vulnerable citizens who do everything in their power to survive each day.
Over the last 10 years, I've noticed that there are direct connections between our society's vulnerable and a cat or dog. Sometimes, that unconditional love and commitment that you get from a four legged friend helps you move forward not simply for yourself, but for your furry friend.
Our pets don't judge and are more than willing to stay close to us even if we don't have a home. That is love in its sincerest form.
It was my seeing of this unconditional love that made me realise that every dog and cat have love to give. Every pet deserves a home and our animal shelters don't have the funding or the required volunteers to get dogs or cats to where they would be able to eventually get adopted.
This is where I want to step in and help. There are so many pet rescue organizations across the Province of Ontario who are in need of very important transportation services in order to help our furry friends find a temporary foster home or permanent home.
My goal is to operate a van all across Northern Ontario to help transport pets from Rescues to their forever homes. This service will be available for all Rescues across the North as there seems to be a huge demand for it.
I would like to operate it as an 'on demand' service, and be called in by Rescue Charities when needed.
This isn't a big money maker, but more of a desperately needed service. My goal, is to provide this service.
However, Rescues can't pay for this service, so it's very existence depends on caring people like you.
