Hello everyone! Let me introduce you to Grace. Grace is an 11 year old superhero. She was born with half a heart, but has the biggest heart in the world. She is non-verbal and lights up a room every single time she walks into it, always showing and expressing her love and compassion for others. She has survived 3 open-heart surgeries amongst countless other operations and procedures for the varying things she’s had to endure throughout her lifetime. She’s about to undergo 2 more surgeries, on her eyes this time, so that her VISION does not become more impaired.
She has cataracts in both eyes that are significantly worse and is in need of these operations to help her continue to see. She wears glasses but because she has Down syndrome, she does not have much of a bridge of her nose causing the glasses to constantly fall down. She’s always pushing them back up using both hands causing them to always have touch marks on them, again not giving her the clearest sight possible.
Grace was determined to be a great candidate for the PanOptics trifocal lens. This will correct her near, far, and peripheral vision. She is at a higher risk for tearing because her eyes are more oval than ours, so a dissolvable stitch will also be put in to prevent that from happening. This is common in children with Down syndrome and in children that have prolonged use of oxygen, which Grace has also had to have.
Here’s where your help comes in…insurance does not cover this type of lens that sweet Grace needs. All contributions will go directly toward the medical expense of the lenses and follow up treatments that will be needed. Grace is part of an AMAZING family who is ALWAYS giving back to others, so now I’d love for us to be able to give back to them! Please consider donating so that Grace can keep her superpower and continue to be a superhero in all of our lives.
Thank you in advance for your support, prayers , and generosity!
