A Vision For Baltimore

Blessings everyone,
My name is Terry Love, and I’ve never done anything like this before, but there’s a first time for everything. Today, I am dropping any level of pride that may exist within me, and humbly asking for financial assistance as I build out my businesses, which in turn will ultimately provide the necessary funds needed for creating outreach ministry and community opportunities throughout the city of Baltimore.
Who am I?
I am a 46-year-old man born and raised here in the city of Baltimore. I am married to a beautiful woman named Crystal, and this year (July 22, 2023), we will be celebrating five years of marriage. We have a 13-year-old son named Joshua, currently in the 8th grade. By profession, I retired as a detective from the Baltimore City Police Department last year on March 1, 2022, after serving for 22 years with the agency. I served my city very proudly in many capacities within the agency, such as: uniformed patrol, narcotic units, various task force assignments, the Homicide Unit, and much more. Out of all the places and assignments I’ve worked within law enforcement, my most rewarding place of service was when I worked with Baltimore Police Community Collaboration Division. It was there that I had the task of building a re-entry program. For those who may not be familiar with re-entry, it’s simply building opportunities for incarcerated individuals who are being released from incarceration and setting them up for a successful “re-entry” back into society. My team and I accomplished that goal by addressing such needs as: employment, housing, counseling/mental health services, legal services, and more.
What does the business entail?
Following my retirement from the Baltimore City Police Department, I started building what I’ve always had an interest in building: my own security and fingerprinting company. The name of the company is At Arms National Security. The security company will provide armed and unarmed security services for businesses, corporations, and governments (on the local, state, and federal levels), while the fingerprinting company will provide live scan fingerprinting services for those same business entities, as well as consumers who may be walk-ins. With all that’s happening within the city of Baltimore alone, there is a great need for additional law enforcement service providers. The name of the company speaks for itself, meaning that it’s a company that is being birthed out of the city of Baltimore, but the vision is to provide these same services to other cities and states abroad. In the city of Baltimore alone, the Baltimore City Police Department is at its all-time low in sworn police personnel. They are approximately 500-600 officers short. That shortage of officers decreases response times to serious crimes and other incidents committed around the city for residents and businesses throughout.
What will the funds be used for?
The infrastructure for the company has been completed, which includes actions such as: registering the business with the State of Maryland, obtaining an EIN number, acquiring business and handgun licensing, procuring office space, and establishing a business website. Additional items such as: forms, reports, and employee packets have also been developed. The funds that I’m seeking will go directly toward uniforms and equipment. Uniforms will consist of shirts (long and short sleeve), pants, jackets, coats, gun belts, police radios, protective ballistic vests, and other additional items, as needed. The basic equipment needed is computers, printers, office equipment, and various office supplies.
What is my overall mission?
My overall mission for building this business is to provide jobs and opportunities to many! Simply put, the positions that will be offered for the company are: armed and unarmed security guards, administrative staff (payroll, marketing, scheduling) trainers, fingerprint techs, etc. My goal is to also provide livable wages (not minimum wage) to all employees so that they may be positioned to provide for their families financially. Last but certainly not least, a big portion of the proceeds made from this business will go towards much-needed services for the city of Baltimore.
Outside of business, I serve also in the area of ministry. My team and I serve many communities with food and clothing needed for families and the homeless. What we do is quite rewarding, but it’s never enough for us. With the proceeds earned from this business, we plan to build more businesses, while partnering with other businesses to provide more jobs to people in need. We also plan to provide additional services throughout Baltimore such as youth programs, addiction services, counseling, mental health services, re-entry programs, and much more!
How can you support?
In my closing, I truly pray you’ve heard my heart and captured the vision of why I live— that vision is to build and serve at the highest level possible. I also pray that you would consider giving, knowing that your hard-earned money will be going to a much-needed source that has the true meaning of love attached to it. I thank you all in advance for your giving. And for those who may not have it to give right now, it’s okay. I would ask that you please pray for this team and me, as we look to do great things locally and abroad.
