My name is Jack Barber and I lost my leg 2.5 years ago at this point. I had an army of family and friends who answered the call when I needed help the most and I strive to return those favors when the Lord presents me with one. I recently met a gentleman in his 40s named Scott who lost his right leg below the knee around a year and a half ago. He had moved to the Duplin County area 6 months prior to having his leg amputated. I have no knowledge of any family in the area. After surgery he has bounced between 9 jobs just this year. As an amputee myself I understand the struggles of having a regular job. With boils, blisters, rashes, and not to mention the countless doctor visits to get into a prosthetic that works for you. Over the past months he has sold almost everyhting in his possessions to stay afloat. His power has been shut off because he cannot afford to pay the bills any longer. He is running a wood stove to stay warm to and to cook food. With only having one leg and still learning to navigate a new way of living you can imagine that being able to get wood that is split and dry is quite difficult. Over several conversations with him the biggest struggle now is not having a reliable source or transportation to get to and from a job. He needs a vehicle most of all to help him get life back on track. With a vehicle he has told me many times he knows for a fact he can find a job to suit his needs and to make money to continue paying the bills to keep him and his dog fed, warm, and safe. Any amount is helpful and greatly appreciated!
