A true Labour Hero needs our help
Donation protected
Andrea Gilbert is an unsung hero of the Labour movement who is facing eviction.
Having been sanctioned by the DWP in January, she was left with £4.94 and her landlady has been authorised to evict her. The bailiffs are expected any day. She is currently living without a fridge, running hot water or a cooker.
Nobody deserves to live like this.
Andrea's backstory
She became politicised after working for a homeless charity and having joined the Labour Party to support Jeremy Corbyn, she got active in the Labour homelessness campaign.
In 2019, Andrea played a pivotal role in Labour winning Putney - the party's only gain in the General Election.
Her local activism saw people pushing Andrea to stand as a councillor in Putney. However, having been selected to stand, she was expelled from Labour for having written an article for the newspaper of a proscribed organisation (even though when she wrote the article the organisation wasn't proscribed!).
Despite the setback, Andrea continued to advocate for homeless people and has saved many people from a life on the streets through her work for Crisis.
Now it's time we helped Andrea.
