A Tribute to John P. Lutseck's Life and Love
Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John P. Lutseck in the early morning hours of March 10, 2025, at O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home in Brookfield, Ohio. He had only recently been placed there due to the sudden onset of dementia and ultimately succumbed to an infection.
John was born on May 2, 1956, to Kathleen (Morley) and John Lutseck at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, the youngest of four children. As a young man, he worked as a caddy at Squaw Creek Country Club before attending Mathews High School in Vienna, where he played football on one of the school’s most celebrated teams.
After high school, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, excelling in boot camp and earning the distinction of Honor Man of his platoon at Parris Island. He went on to serve as a baker in Iwakuni, Japan. After completing his military service, he earned a degree in criminal justice from Youngstown State University and later graduated summa cum laude with his juris doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. John passed the bar exam and practiced law for 36 years, running his own private firm and dedicating his career to helping countless individuals seek justice.
In his 40s, John developed a passion for marathon running, filling his office with trophies, medals, and awards earned through perseverance and dedication. He was also a gifted storyteller, writing and publishing three novels in his Mahoning Valley Mystery series, which remain available on Amazon.
John was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and John Lutseck, and his only grandson, John "Jack" Edgar Walsh Lutseck.
He is survived by his three siblings, including his oldest brother, Michael "Mickey" Lutseck, with whom he shared a home in Champion Township in his final years; his sister, Kathleen "Kathy" Lutseck; and his "Irish twin," Thomas "Tommy" Lutseck Sr., both of Vienna.
Additionally, John is survived by his niece, Lisa Marie (Lutseck) Williams; her children, Brittany Nicole Sprock Williams and Christopher Sprock; and her brother, Thomas "Tommy" Lutseck Jr., who will forever carry his love and guidance in their hearts.
He is also survived by his beloved aunt, Rita Kline, and literally hundreds of cousins from the Morley side of the family, all of whom will cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
Above all else, John was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his three daughters, Jessica Lynn Lutseck of Cortland, Ohio, and Jenna Ann Lutseck and Joni Renee Lutseck of Champion. To them, he was first the best father little girls could ever ask for, and later, the best friend they could ever wish for.
His greatest joy was his only granddaughter, the apple of his eye, our family's princess, Emmeline "Emme" Ann Renee Lutseck of Cortland. Grandpa never missed a single day with Emme during the first five years of her life, and in his final years, she had him wrapped around her little pinky finger. If it’s possible, he was an even better grandfather than he was a father.
He will also be deeply missed by the surviving mother of his children, Cheryl "Cheri" (Crawford) Lutseck of Champion, with whom he shared over 30 years of life and love.
A funeral Mass will be held this Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Queen of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, located at 291 Scoville Drive in Vienna. The Mass will be followed by a dinner and wake at the church hall, where we hope all who were touched by him will come to share their best memories.
As we come together to celebrate John’s life, we are also facing the unexpected financial burden of his funeral expenses. If you would like to support us during this difficult time, donations can be made through GoFundMe or via CashApp or Chime to $jplutseck84. Any contribution is deeply appreciated and will help ensure we honor John’s memory in the way he deserves.
We extend our deepest gratitude for the love, prayers, and support from all who knew and cherished John.
